Our Leaders
Jordan Bird, Pastor
When it was time for Jordan to leave children’s and family ministry and become a senior pastor, he set out to find the oldest Baptist church that would have him.
He grew up and was saved in church plants as a part of 80s and 90s church plant culture. Some version of contemporary or church plant culture would have suited him fine. However, about the time he was ready to lead a church, he was struck by the Bible verse, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God.” What if issues and trends in church style and culture mattered very little compared to the proclamation of God’s Word? What if the proclamation of Scripture was the only thing necessary for a person to come to faith?
It was then that Jordan devised a plan to find the oldest church he could that was happy with its historic Baptist identity, but also wanted to do lots of missions and evangelism. Perhaps a church and community could be revitalized, not by changing the décor, name, or governance, but by simply teaching Scripture and insisting the congregation share the Good News? Talatha was the perfect fit.
Jordan and his family came to Talatha in August of 2015. Prior to that, he served as a Family Pastor and as a Children’s Pastor at several churches in Texas. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University (BA) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv).
Jordan and Meredith are proud native Texans, and they have 4 children, Zoey, Samuel, Isaac, and Zachary.
Trevor Burrow, Associate Pastor
Trevor joined the Talatha congregation in his first pastoral position in October of 2017. He came to us from North Carolina with his wife Laura who is from Canada and proud of it! Therefore, he is proud of it too! They were married in May of 2017. He and Laura have two daughters, Alice and Jane.
Trevor graduated from Liberty University in 2015 with a degree in Pastoral Leadership and completed his Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2021. He was ordained on March of 2019.
He enjoys teaching others about God's Word and seeing Christ transform lives.
